I am doin a low mile motor swap and before I put the new motor in I was gonna do the aftermarket headgasket but not sure exactly what goes into it on this motor. Attached is a pic of the valves/heads is it the gasket that goes directly on the bottom of thease heads? If so it does not seem that hard to do? As far as the timing can you mark the position of the cams so you dont have to re set it? I imagine you take the exhaust manifold off and the intake but what elce do you unbolt for this unit to come off? Last but not least where is the cheapest place to buy the aftermarket steel gasket and the APR studs?? Anything I elce I need to know before replacing? THX!! - Eric

yes the hg is between the head and block. and i hope that head is not sitting on the valves. the cams do not have to come out, the cam gears are already marked for timing, just set the bottom end to TDC and the cam gears to TDC and assemble. you will need to mill the head, get that done before you buy the gasket so you know how thick the gasket needs to be. if you are going metal and you have the motor out then mill the block too. there is a thread in the referance section that will tell you how to do the hg, and another thread that will tell you what you can replace while doing the hg.
