Head ???

I have taken three complete heads to my engine guy and every one of them has the same problem, scoring in the cam journals/+ to the cams... And it is bad enough that he thinks I should try and find a head that does not have the same problem. What do you think????

Is this a common problem with the 7m? Anybody else have this same problem?

not really sure what your asking, is it should you find one that doesnt have scouring in the head? if so yes, you should.

Its just strange that all of the heads I have all have the same problem.... Iam scared to look at the head that is on my own car! One of the heads that has this problem is a 40,000 mile head..

The cam journal is the furthest from the oil pump, so it is scored first.

not sure which one your talking about, but maybe you can tell me, how much do the n/a cams do? was it worth it?

Here are some pics of my head. I've had three very reputable machine shops tell me this isn't that big of a deal. All three of them said they would just align hone them and make sure their isn't any high spots that would scratch the cams up. You would still see the pits and scratchs cause all they're doing is basically polishing the surface. But they did recommend that I replace both intake and exhaust cams. The cams were roughly $380 for both. I got quotes from $150-200 to align hone the cam journals and caps. $365-380 for both cams. But that was my experience.
