Heres an easy way to remove the cylinder with the harness etc still in the car, I was told by a lot of people that to remove the head, you have to remove the harness, but this is what i did and saved an a$$load of time. Its not really a complete writeup, but gives you a good idea.

I removed the turbo, exh manifold, the harness that crosses over the head, the upper intake manifold, then disconnected all the vaccum lines, I then unbolted the lower intake manifold and injectors etc. from the head and pulled it back from the head and it gives you enough room to pull the head out. I hope this helps anyone with a BHG etc, this was the first one i have ever done, and i found it a lot easier.

I never took mine off either, all I did was slide the exhasust manifold over to the side, split the intake manifold with 5 bolts and unhook the injector clips and a few others and off she went

If you go through all of that trouble, why not just take an extra 30 mins or so and just pull the motor? It's a lot easier to get to everything when it's outside of the car.

I thought I had the perfect solution, but then I remembered that 7m head bolts were inside the valve cover... :icon_conf

and when ya pull the motor, just undo the harness from inside the car. a TON easier than pulling the intake in the bay.
