Port and polish will help in the top end. Cams will help too. Springs are needed for cams. Bigger valves allow for a better faster flow. Which also helps.

If the head is off it would be a good thing to do. Then just add cams, springs and retainers later.

I've got a ported head, BC cams, and stock valves/springs. I'm not sure if it's just a 1j thing (never driven a stock 1j for comparison), but this car definitely has dual nature. Hit about 3k and it all comes on HARD from there. Kinda flattens out around 5k because the stock twins are a choke point for my head. Another way to think of it, is that the casting marks inside the ports cause a bit of drag on the air going through the head. Drag causes buildup, which I would think causes back pressure eventually. The smoother the air can travel through your engine, the better overall. :)

Ok man the head is ported and polished that's about all. So im going tp take it to the machine shop and have a valve job done.
