head machining, how much?

Okay, headgasket blew on my daily and my spare head has stripped exhaust holes. Only $50 to mill the head, so how far can i go with it. It might be still good cause i didn't even notice any change in how it ran and wasn't blowing steady smoke, went to check oil 'cause of a leak and saw milkshake... I know this head has never been machined, so what's my limit? Any help is appreciated.

Make sure where ever you get the head done at they dont us a belt sander. and make sure the block it straight

appreciate ya, didn't even think to look at that cause I really just plan to use stock HG and was thinking along the lines of a little more compression for my GE wouldn't hurt...
