Head Gasket Selection

I sent my motor to get cleaned and checked but im going to be putting 1mm oversize pistons. The probe ones. My question is should I still get the hks 1.2mm gasket or should I try to find a 1.3mm. Im only going to hone the cylinders so it will fit. Thanks everyone:icon_bigg

1mm over is .040 over and should be bored to fit not just honed.

Need to know more than just how big the bore is to determine how big a hg should be.

The HKS one im getting is good up to 0.60 over size so if 0.40 is 1mm that means I have 0.20 to work with right. Should be okay. And I will bore if I have 2. Wanna do it right

After the machining is done to head and block to prep for MHG, a 1.2mm will be too thin. a 2mm will be the thickness you want.

Boring effects compression also. Not just how much is taken off the head. Basically you want to stay around 8.4:1 compression ratio. 8.7:1 is fine also but you but anything about that and you will have to have the proper fueling and tune. Which you should already have. Tuning is key and detonation is the enemy.

I had taken my car to shop (Delmotorsports) and wanted them to machine my old head but found some really bad stuff with it so I trashed it and got another one rebuilt and almost new. Had driven the car for six months and driven the car from el paso tx to fullerton ca and back. Car was okay but started to run weird. Tested ignition and fuel but was doing the same. After awhile while I was driving on the freeway smoke comes from under the hood. Ended up being that the rings that went bad. Excessive blow by. All they did was supposidly check the head and block to mate the 1.2 hg. Was this the reason why it went bad or was it that I installed the lexus afm. I only Installed the electronic piece not the whole unit. The new shop (carpartsmachineshop) is checking everything and should have the specs for me latter. So I guess ill wait till then and let you guys know whats going on.
