Ok i blew out my head gasket and im in the process of replacing the head gasket i am upgrading to arp head studs and probly going to be running 12 pounds of boost i have a 12to1 fmu acurate hks boost gaudge 3 inch exhaust all the way back k&n air filter and t4 with a 60ar and 100ar greddy type s. im wondering is it nessary to upgrade to a metal head gasket i talked to a few diffrent local shops and the said the one i purchased at shucks was better then stock and will hold up with the arp head studs just fine ?? im going to buy a whole new engine and build it up over the next few months so in like 5 months i will be dropping a whole new 7mgte in. Also when i pulled the head the timing belt looked terrible might have even been the orignal is there anyway to replace the belt without having to tear the block out to. the underdrive pully has to be pull to dosnt it??? im not doingt is with a manual so it kinda sucks seams like its impossible to get a manual checked everywhere no one seams to have one only one i found was on ebay and im finishing this up in the next 2 days so thats worthless. Sorry if i sound like a tottal newbie im extremly knowlegeable on hondas and such but new the world of supras though i like the fact that i spend 700 bucks and it feels like ihave doubled my power. Thanks in advanced for your help

Before you get shot down in a blaze of glory for not searching about MHG's. :3d_frown: Yes you should. Although you are going to build another engine you still should put one one.

This is one of the things i found in my search of metal head gaskets and when i talked to a local toyota machanic he said the gasket i got was supprior to the th standard toyota head gasket

BTW, just for reference...

I use ARP head bolts on a standard Toyota composite gasket. They are torqued with moly lube to 100 ft/lbs.

Until last week I was running 17psi on a stock CT-26, without any problems. The engine has been together for over a year.

Last week I upgraded to a 58 trim CT-26, and the boost is now at 20psi. We'll see how long this lasts.
