My latch near the drivers seat has never really worked so I've been using my key. This past weekend my friend was going into my trunk to get some tools and the key turned to the right and then got stuck that way. I tore apart the trunk and took the lock mechanism out but I couldn't get it un-seized.

Since that is pretty much messed up I was wondering what my options are. Is there a way to get a new lock mechanism made from the dealer? Has anyone had their trunk latch thing by the drivers side fixed? Because if I could atleast get that working that would be nice.

I cna pop open the trunk by climbing inside and opening it from there but that is very impractical. Any help would be appreciated.

maybe I can get the wiring for the hatch lever from a junkyard...

My latch never used to work either. I would pull, and pull, but nothing

I let it sit for a night in WD40 and the thing opens now, i have to pull pretty hard, but it opens!

Pull the cable off of the handle/lever, and also at the latch in the rear.
Check to see if the handle moves freely.
Check to see if cable moves freely.
Check to see if latch moves freely.

Take lock cylinder and clean up any/all corrosion. Let soak for at least a couple hours in a container of PB Blaster (note: not a plastic container) overnight if possible.
When out of the PB, insert key and turn back and forth repeatedly.
If it still doesn't work, you can either take the cylinder apart yourself, and find out the problem (mine was a stuck tumbler), or you can bring it to a locksmith and he/she will rebuild it for you.

Funny thing is, my handle felt brand new, the cable moves very freely, and the latch felt brand new, and yet, I could never open it from the driver's seat either before or after.
quite odd I say.
But, I just used the key, and that worked fine for my needs.

Mine did exactly the same thing. lol I got it stuck to the left. Luckly I was bored.

I tore it all down for many reasons, one being the lock, another being the cable to the cabin. When I got to the lock, I soaked it in WD-40 and kinda forgot about it. When puttin it all back together, I remembered it and try it. It feels brand new. Idk about the light on there (is there one?) but you dont need it. I also reworked the cable so that it would open, but even if I lock the trunk it opens.

Good Luck

Thinkin now, the reason i bypassed the lock was because pulling the lever wouldnt move the mechanism on the lock, which in turn opens the latch. It may do that now that the lock is free, but i havent tried.

With this setup, it works. :icon_roll

You can fully disassemle your lock, sand the cylinder and reassemble with some lithium grease. You can also get the cylinder pins reshaped from another lock at any locksmith to match your key, or if you understand how they work, 5 minutes and a file will get you there too.

I will have to get some pb blaster then. Too bad I stuck it back in there, looks like i'll be removing all my plastic again soon.
