hey ya'll... i just managed to get a hold of russell surge tank... i believe your name for them is fuel cell... why call them that! they stop surging so i reckon our terminology makes more sense :p

but anyway lol

i scored it for $80usd and holds .2gallon of fuel.... i would think this would be fine for drag racing sloshing ;)
i've got my walbro intank pump and i'm going to run another external walbro off the surge tank

what do you think of russell?

ahh i know what you are talking about. It is NOT a fuel cell. It is in fact a surge tank.

It is a dual system.

One fuel pump goes from the fuel tank to the surge tank then you have another fuel pump from the surge tank to fuel rail with a fuel feed from rail back to surge tank and a line from surge tank to fuel tank to move the excess fuel. Better to just use a REAL fuel cell. ;)

Not trying to be a smart ass, but if the tank is half full or more wouldn't that always keep the fuel pick up tube immersed in fuel no matter what?

I guess I don't quite understand what fuel surge is maybe.

well it depends. What happens is two fold. The gasoline gets heated up by the fuel pump as it gets pressurized by the fuel pump. This is made worst by high volume fuel pumps like weldon pumps or aeromotive pumps.

The surge tank ALWAYS keeps fuel in the system regardless of acceleration or corner variables.
