The insurance is there already. The 7M block is a very hard casting.
I was examining my 138,000mi block and the crosshatching is VERY evident still. I didn't even look for it.

Cross hatching at that kind of mileage says something about either the material the block is cast from or the oil's we are using. I too say cross hatching in all my cylinders when I had my engine resealed at 135K miles duee to oil leaks. Im wondering if the notion the JetJock has been telling us about has something to do with this. Maybe our oil is too damn thick for propper ring seating. Maybe the material hardness of the block has something to due with the BHG's our cars are famous for. Maybe this hard material needs FAR more warm up time due to it's hardness than most engine blocks. I would love to hear some engineers chine in on this subject.

At the PRI (SEMA for hardcore racers), I talked to the guys from Darton regarding sleeves for the 7m. They looked into it a few years prior to me asking the question, and they came to the conclusion that it wouldn't gain the end user much if anything at all. A 7m block is hard. boring it out in order to fit a sleeve would leave little room between the cylinders. The sleeve would just give back that strength that boring took out of it.

It's a siamese bore block so no you can't sleeve all 6

You might get away with 1 but it won't be structually sound as the sleeve will either be a very thin wall or it will break into the water jacket.

All a sleeve does is allow you to press it out and press in a new one everytime you want to rebuild with out reboring the block. Like IJ said, you would have to bore the block way too much just to install sleeves that will fit anywhere near stock piston size.

...This gives me and idea. What if somone cut out all the cylinders. so your left with a large rectangle missing from the center of the block. and then made a large sleeve that featured all 6 cylinders in it that could be used in the block. Just an Idea, and I belive the block has sufficient space for something on those lines.

You'd have a bit twisty chunk of scrap metal ;)

I had to do mine the old fashioned way. With a grinding wheel and some elbow grease.
