my car doesnt overheat no more (yay :D). No leaks cept my valve cover gaskets (stupid things) Anyway so im driving right. And my temp is at 2/5ths around there, and then i go WOT for a minute to feel my hands shake when i floor it :D. so anyway i watch my temperature drop. thats right it went down. i was liek okay... so then i let off. then my temp rises slightly, and is at the 3/4 area. But stays there for a coupel of seconds and doent move. im liek wtf? then i go wot and it goes down again. now this is confusing me. what could be the cause of this? is it maybe im runnign a bit low on coolant perhaps (although i wouldn't see how thatcould cause this) or maybe my new rad was a burst of fresh air for the coolant system.. but it still woudlnt explain why after it goes to the 3/4 area slowly and stays there. any ideas guys? search has failed me too..
edit: id liek to add, that after an hour of driving it doesnt overheat. water pump is fresh too and so are the gaskets and seals.

Please don't type the way you speak. It sucketh. ;)

It could be air in your system, bad thermo, and possibly BHG. Three fourths on your guage sounds pretty high too.
i wouldnt count the thermo, or the headgasket considerign im not burning any coolant or spitting any out. probably air clog or something. gonna flsuh it later today...

bad fan clutch?
when you went WOT, the fan was spiniing faster and pulling more air thru your radiator and the sensor was sensing the cooler fluid.
Just my geuss-
And it is always a good thing to check all fluids!!

jack the front end up or put it on ramps/jackstands and start the engine and turn the heat on full blast. pop the rad cap and add fluid as needed.

maybe look into water wetter from redline. ya can buy it at any advanced auto parts. helps keep temps down by about 20 deg.

FLEX-A-LITE DUAL FANS FTW. My temp never goes over half, and I am due for coolant flush and fill soon so I guess I'll get on that but it runs strong so I'am happy. Not a fan of the stock fan, but do as you will, just an idea to consider.

i will never trust flexa lit fans vs a clutch fan. my car doesnt overheat and my fan is working. maybe thermo or air pocket. im thinking air pocket but hey i can be wrong.

Air bubble in your system or a sticky thermostat (or both). Changing your thermostat is easy...just get a new rubber gasket for it too.

My guess is air bubble in the system.

Steam or hot air on your sensor reads as "cold" v/s coolant over the sensor.

Park your car on an incline, or jack up the front. (Do both, and it's even better.) You want to get the filler cap as high as possible, and your engine as low as possible.

Ok, when it's cooled down, take off the cap and start your car.. run it at idle to just circulate the coolant. Add coolant as needed to top off your system, and put the cap back on. (Check for bubbles, when you get no more, put the cap on.)

If you use water wetter, it does work, but will make any leaks 100x worse. I like to run some Bars Leaks in my system. They sell it as a powder, and you just add it to your radiator. (If you use the bars leaks and the water wetter, I suppose that would work.. LOL

Good luck.

so ur agreeign with the BHG? Im still not convinced... no white smoke...

Not at all, but air is getting in the system some how. And finding where can drive you absolutely crazy. What Adjuster said is the starting point...you want to get all the air out of the system.

A pressure test will tell you that you have a leak...could be simple like a radiator cap. I suggested the thermostat because of what you gauge is doing, plus it's a maintenance item as well.
