The drain is on the bottom of the tank, iirc? I'd be worried about road debris knocking it off. Maybe put the box up by the stock fuel filter location, and run a feed line to it from the tank? Seems I've seen people feeding the sump with the in tank pump, then using that to feed the bigger pump, or something to that effect?

It would probably work well, as the tank would gravity feed. Maybe make it big enough to fit in the straps, so its not relying on just the fitting to hold it in place? Might have to make some longer straps, though.

with the feed over to the right, like weld in a pant that directs the fuel to one side?

oh thats a side view BTW

fuel drain will not work. have friends that have tried it. it just will not seal properly.

i supose you could weld the fitting in if you were die hard about using it.

if it were me (and how mine is done) drill and tap the bottom of the tank inside the stock baffle. run that to the pump, or aux tank, whichever you prefer.

dont forget to run a pre filter.

edit:

pic of what im talking about-

how it is installed inside tank-

mine isnt welded. its just drilled and has a bulkhead fitting like i showed above.

good luck with the drain. you'll be the first ive seen that doesnt leak without welding.
