Hey all, I recently picked up a 87 turbo, anyways it has a really hard time starting. It will crank for 10-15 seconds before it even fires on one cyl. then once its gets started runs on a few cyls if you floor it or anything it will hardly do anything, but if you get above 2k rpms or so it will clean up and run fine. It will run pretty bad until its warmed up, after that it runs all right, still pretty rough.

I've verified the cam timing, its fine, i checked the timing its at 10 (tps might be bad or something though, have to readjust that). when you floor it and it runs bad (take prolly 5 seconds to rev up to 2k) you can hear it back fire into the intake it sounds like..

I havn't messed with it that much. Its throwing code 52, i havn't checked for a while, it might be throwing something else now, but i doubt it. The knock sensors wires are cut so will have to rewire, not a big deal, but shouldn't cause it to basically not run when cold.

any ideas?

Check your cold start injector and sensory. This with some other problems could cause a hard start.
Also make sure it is running on all cylinders.

kitties? when it first starts it blows blue smoke, but the turbo is shot, so im figuring might be that, could be valve seals or something as well..

will disconnect the cold start injector see if it helps at all

Kitties = catalytic convertors. One in the stock downpipe and one bolted in between the downpipe and the rest of the exhaust.

Engine's don't like to run when they have oil (or anything besides fuel/air) inside their cylinders.
