Hey all, Just a Quick Question for you. Have a 88 Supra Turbo. Was wondering what the Purpose to the HAC Sensor was and If its not connected, Will it make the engine have a Small Backfire or Hesitiate to Accelerate.

The HAC is used in conjunction with other sensors to calculate the volume of air entering the engine. You shouldn't have any adverse affects, unless you encounter drastic elevation changes, as the other sensors can pick up most of the slack . Members have run with out them with no I'll effects. Not very many 87 owners around here, but the one guy local that tried to remove the HAC had nothing but problems. IIRC he had stuttering problems. I don't really see the need to remove since it doesn't weigh anything and it won't reduce engine bay clutter.
Ok, Well here is my Problem. I got the HAC sensor installed back into the car. Now, The car starts up fine, Its just when it warms up, I start to get a pop from the Exhaust, Everytime it pops, I get a Small amount of black smoke.
If I rev the engine really fast, It sputters and I get alot of Smoke from the Exhuast. Black smoke but at Normal Idle, It doesnt smoke at all. And my Check Engine light comes and stays on as soon as I rev it up.
If I put it into gear, Step on the Brake and Release the clutch, It pops and Sputters its ass off. I cant drive it at this Point due to the Lack of Power and Poping.
Now, Does this sound like knock Senors, Bad Injectors, or What.
Im so confused here, I dont know what to do?

yes the hac does change the timing i had the same problem and replaced the hac now the car runs great no more stuttering or popping
