Anybody here running H.I.D Headlights? How are they? Got any pics?

I can get a McCulloch HID kit for $325 canadian shipped next day form montreal. Is this a good price? I know if more people buy the price will be cheaper.
Anyone interested?

I'm using the Pilot brand kit. I paid $280 CDN locally. Price seems reasonable for shipped in Canada. I'm using them in camaro headlight bulbs so I don't know how they would be in a Supra bulb housing. I like em though! The color rocks. Very BMW-like.

A word of advise from someone whos been in the business and still deals with a lot of things HID. Dont get fooled into getting aftermarket HID Kits to plug into your halogen reflectors. Very bad idea. Cheap quality, and too much glare!
If you like what BMW has, then get what BMW has in their headlights.

I hate to shamelessly plug, but if you register on my forums (www.hidplanet.com/forums) you will find tons of info about this and will see why a projector retrofit is the way to go versus a aftermarket HID Kit.
Not only do you want the "look" of a BMW, but you should also want the lighting performance too which is a huge difference between a retrofit and a kit.

I plan to buy these:
Module90mm.jpg

They come in several models, however these are what I'm going to get:

1 PAIR 68141 - Bi-Xenon which functions as hi/low beams
1 PAIR 68142 - Fog Lights with wide angle of dispersion

They're 90mm round (a little under 4") and the headlights take 6x8" lamps, so they will fit stacked 8" wide and the headlights will sit 2" lower then stock.

I'll make a custom fiberglass pod to hold the lamps, and they have 4 mounting screws, so it should be pretty easy to aim them correctly because I'm sure the pods I make won't be perfect.

IN FACT - if someone wants to make this for me and sell the kit, I'll pay extra :) But I figured no one was up to the challenge so I'm going to do it myself or get the help of a car audio shop.

^ That would be pretty sweet! I can just see two in there with a color matched custome fiberglass cover holding them in place. Pretty sweet looking. Would probably be tits with the fixed headlight conversion...

I've got some from brightheadlights.com. I paid $500 and I'm pretty sure they raised their prices even more since then. They are pretty nice though.

I've been working on this for a LONG time now. I want mine to be perfect and I haven't been putting every free moment into them. I've had the HID lows since 2000.

I'll tell you now that you would not be willing to pay what these things are worth - considering the amount of time and planning that goes into them.

A kit would not work because the actual buckets need to be modified to hold the new lights. You'd either have to send your buckets somewhere for modification or pay extra for a new set of buckets - upping the cost.

If you think through them you will figure it out - as long as you are at least a little mechanically inclined.

HID - thanks for your post. Too many people are slapping HID bulbs into non HID housings and causing dangerous driving conditions for themselves and others driving near them.

I'll make my point again for those that haven't read it in a while.

Would you put cardboard brake pads on your car if they LOOKED really DAMN cool? We're talking Totally KICK @$$ here.

If you're going to invest in HIDs for your ride then please do it right. Actually, if you are going to change ANY safety equipment (including lighting etc) please do it the right way. Those diamond cut headlight housings on Ebay are CRAP! If you can't IMPROVE things then DON'T mess with them!

Here's a couple pictures from the front. Sorry, I don't have any pictures of the beam pattern.

Did you have to do any modifications? Or you bought a straight kit?

I just bought a kit. It came completely assembled. Mount the ballasts, hook up some wires, put the lights in and you're done. I ran into a little bit of trouble with the wiring, but it wasn't too bad.
