Guage lights wont work still

I saw a write up a while ago on how to make your gauge lights to work again after causing a short in it...pics would be nice...btw i forgot to hook the dimmer switch back up and once i turnted on the lights, smoke came out of my steering wheel...any help would be great b/c i hate driving at night not knowing how fast i go...which gives me an excuse to speed lol :thefinger

check the fuses in the kick panel, the one that says 'gauges'. if thats not the problem, then you most likely fried the dimmer.

yeah i know i fried the dimmer...i was seeing if anyone knew how to cross the wires again to make them work...any ideas?
