Bought the old HKS kit with short runner, and looking to replace old turbo that was included. Looking around, I see ATP has a version of the GT35R with a T04 flange. Anyone know if its a whole different housing, or just a different flange?

Also, the downpipe to exhaust housing connection on the kit is funky... a 2-bolt collar clamps the pipe into a recessed groove on the turbine housing. Definitely not a v-band, but what is it? I think I read that it's "european" but I haven't seen it before...

Thanks for the help!

you talking about this one?

that looks like a v-band but they arent calling it that. it looks kinda shallow but maybe its just the pic/angle. the euroflange you are talking about looks different than that.

do you have a 7m? I think the gt35r is a bit small for a 3.0. A GT4082 would be better and cheaper... check out bigaaron's car.

2jz boys are running the 35R with the bastardised T4 housing and seeing around the 550 mark on full tilt, personally i think its a great streetable turbo for the 7M

people are getting almost 500rwhp on the 2jz stock twins. Not too impressive if you ask me on the gt35r... but I will agree that the lowend will be nice, but why go through all the trouble for that extra 50hp. Might as well go bigger.

I dunno, that's just my opinion.

IIRC thats the middle sized AR for those powers. In the UK we have 90% jspec mkiv TT's and the stock ceramic turbos arnt that reliable above 1.2bar. so its quite a good setup for those power levels.

agreed, its a sweet sized turbo for the 1Jz and one i recommend especially the FR version.

yep thats the freaky euro style thing.

you would be much better off buying a v-band turbine housing and then welding on a v-band flange to your dp.

depending on which setup you used you might have to modify the dp anyway.

I was thinking of doing that...
My other option was to swap my existing turbine housing over, which is why I was wondering if the atp was a t04 housing or just a modified inlet flange...
I wonder what an on-center housing would do to the GT35R...
By the way, does anyone know if the tangential will fit?

I am very interested to see how the GT35R works out for you as I have that origional HKS setup with a T04B on my car right now. I bought it all new from HKS in 1991. Over the years I have been satisfied with the performance but today's turbo technology has me wanting to upgrade. The GT35R is the one that I have my eye on. Also, I've been reluctant to change anything up to this point because the whole kit has 28,000 miles on it to date and economics have played into my decision. Please keep us updated on your findings.
