GT35R Housing Swap, Is it a PITA?

Hey guys, i'm looking at swapping my GT3582 from a T3 to T4 housing, anyone done this before? I remember hearing somewhere it was a major pain, and required a lot of custom work. I'm really hoping this will just be a bolt on simple swap... Anyone know for sure? Thanks!

Here's a link to the housing for reference!

That's what I'm hoping, I heard somewhere that with the new housing the oil and water lines don't have enough room and you need to fabricate a spacer?

It seems like the difficulty is the T4 housing got in the way of the oil and coolant lines, and that was the hard part. From what I read on here.

Why bother?

A .8ar T3 housing will perform EXACTLY the same as a .8ar T4 housing as they use the same nozzle dimension, only the flange is different...

T4 housings were made so they're a bolton for an existing T4 header.

Sorry, didn't realize what I was typing before. The turbo actually has a 0.70 T3 housing, and I want a 1.06 T4, the other issue is I have a nice T4 HKS manifold I don't want to cut up, and the adapter plate I bought for the T3 to T4 raises the turbo an inch too high and I can't run my IC piping properly!

Ahhh I see the problem with that spacer!
(it's straight, I made my own on an angle)

That looks a lot better! So with that angle the IC piping all cleared for you? This is becoming wayyyyy too much of a headache for me, and my car has already been down for two months! I'm borderline about to say screw this and order a t04z kit instead.

Gonna have the same issues with a T04z, the divided adaptor was for my 04z ;)

The Compressor cover on both Turbo's is made from the same casting.

I ran 3" IC pipes on both Turbos.

Wait a second, the turbo sits on the manifold fine as it is without the adapter, just the bolts don't line up obviously. Would changing the exhaust housing effect this? Or if the compressor side clears as is, will I be okay with the t4 housing? Any chance you have a pic of how you ran your IC piping? I have the HKS front mount kit, but enough spare piping to rig something up if needed i suppose.... just a shame hacking up these nice new pipes!

I don't unfortunately, I'll take one tomorrow! I guess the FFIM kind of cleared up all your piping issues.... Maybe that's what I should invest in instead of the $500 it's going to cost to get a housing here! Your car looks great by the way, what kind of power were you putting down with those turbos? I'd like to clear 500rwhp on 91.

Cartech makes high dollar, high quality manifolds in T3 and T4. Call and ask if they will do it in T3 for you, then you don't have to fight with it. Unless of course you insist on that 1.04. Trying to make power at 7500 rpm?

Well, I ordered a mid-range t4 manifold for time being, I'm just going to cut the flange off and weld a T3 on so I can get the car going for now. I'm chasing after high, top-end power so after a bit more debating I think a 67mm or bigger turbo is going to be my best bet! Hopefully when winter rolls around I'll bolt that in with the cams and ems and have it where I want it then. Thanks for the help guys!
