I've decided that group buys are too hard to start on this forum. Why do group buys have to be approved? If you've got a group buy that sounds good and will work and you're serious about starting one up to save us all some money why can't we just post it in there? I'm not going to start a group buy myself but I'm interested in getting in on a few. When I want to upgrade my Supras I go into the "group buy" part of the forum first to see if there's anything good. I know there's a HPF flywheel group buy going on but it's not in the group buy section. Probably because he doesn't want to deal with getting it approved right?

I always check the HPF section and other vendors too.
Jeff has his own HPF section so he doesn't need to do a group buy. He just posts what ever he and HPF is putting together and runs with it. He's his own moderator, so he controls it.
No need for a GB.
Personally I like the idea that someone (moderator) has reviewed the GB. It gives me a little more confidence in the forum and the GB in general.

Alright, you all make good points I suppose. I'll just check the vendors sections for new products and good deals then. CelicaSupra.com's group buy section doesn't need moderator approval and I always thought things worked out quite well. I've participated in a fair amount of group buys from there.

The reason we require approval is because we got stung a few times. After that we decided that we'd take some basic precautions before encouraging the members to hand total strangers their hard earned coin.

If enough of the members believed that the procedure here was to tough to qualify for, we'd change it. This is definitely a site run by it's members and for it's members.
