Well... DUDE, I've seen a couple magazine articles with WRX's and 350Zs that prove they do increase performance by a few HP. They won't do jack unless you properly install them though.

EDIT: whatever that was you posted on ebay is junk though.

The three main grounds that you should do are:

Chassis to negative
Block to chassis
Tranny to chassis

So you're saying the kit is unnecessary, just make up some cables ensure good grounding, and corrosion prevention, maybe?

you'd be better off just buying some heavy ground cable, and making your own. it'd probably be cheaper, too.

The only way a ground wire kit,or for that matter new ground wires will improve electrical performance is if the current wires or attaching points are bad. Check you're grounds with a DVOM. If they are clean (no resistance) save you're money.

Have you looked at the stock grounds? Due to the small guage they place a definite restriction on the amount of current passed. Even on a new car replacing ground lines with 4GA can make a big difference (big being a relative term here).

And yes, you can get the same result building your own ground lines. Just run them well. If the battery is well grounded to the chasis, you can use the chasis as a grouns point, but there is resistance there. The ideal and most responsive method is to ground it ALL to the battery. Of course at this point the difference is so small that most people would never notice it.

how much current is being passed on a lightly modded car? or stock for that matter? I want proof. Big being a relative term, what enhancements can i expect to see on a electrical system that the stock gauge wiring is used, if,in good condition? I will end this with we agree to disagree.

Last summer when I had my n/a dsm, I made my own ground wire kit for the car and didnt really notice anything as far as performance goes, but it definitely smoothed out the idle, started easier, and just made the car as a whole feel more "smooth". I had 4g cable that I got at a car audio store (probably not the cheapest, but it was just a fun day project), the ends from fleet farm (dont know if they are anywhere else but WI) and just linked my different grounds together and they all went to the negative battery terminal. Its pretty self explanitory?? but I still have a diagram if anyone interested in seeing how the setup works.

I am glad that you seen an improvement with you're wiring upgrade. the original ground system was bad and you fixed it.

Whether it was "bad" or not I dont really know because my car wasnt running abnormally or anything. The stock wiring was a lot smaller though. I just thought it would be a fun, cheaper project so I had at it. The result was more than I actually expected so why not give it a try? I just got my supra so I'll definitely being putting one together for my spring tune-up. When I do that (if nobody else puts anything together beforehand), I'll take some pics, and post all the results, if any lol.

are these the only things i need to re ground for this to work?

I'm not sure about those (not saying they are wrong), but in my setup I had the block, transmission, frame, firewall, intake manifold, and the alternator. I didnt have a separate ground going from the - battery terminal to each of these points individually, but some were linked together. If you look at a
420a from a n/a 2g dsm you'll figure out where the wires went.
