Not sure if any1 has had this prob, but ocassionaly my tranny grinds when shifting to reverse. Dont know whats up with this cuz it doesnt happen in any other gear, I press the clutch all the way in, and it grinds like the clutch is still engaged. Any ideas?

I always go first, then reverse... Works like a charm. My new trans however doesn't have this problem, but I still go first then reverse, as it could prevent the reverse grind problem in the future.

i should have mentioned that it doesnt do this if i go from 3rd to reverse, any other gear, or neutral, still grinds.

LoveMy: Reverse is a straight cut Dog gear so you're actually shifting a gear not a synchro when you engage it.... Sometimes you can slip it in at just the right time others it will grind/crunch.

I find with my new Tremec if I nudge it towards 5th first it's fine as this stops any clutch drag from spinning the input shaft while you have the pedal down letting reverse engage while stopped.

(Not many of you guys would be old enough to have driven a "Crash Box" non synchro trans)

Oh shoosh old man. I drove an old Sprite or was it a TVR I dunno... double clutch the thing and rev match the whole time got real old.

But back to the grinding... yes you need to shift into another gear before reverse.
