ok im faced with a situation, so far im preparing to order a ddp, tanabe, got a new high flow cat, well about $1500 worth of stuff for the car and i know that when i put it all on im gonna be hitting something like 13 psi without boost control. so i need a boost controler to keep my car from hitting fuel cut, and to keep it at a lower psi while i get comfortable putting that much power on my tranny. the problem, dunno wut to get.

manual boost controler will be hella cheep but since i wont be installing any new boost guage, i wont know wtf boost im running. bad, but easier on the money i have available

greddy profec B, boost redout and more accurate control of my boost. problem is its like $350 shipped. i just dont wanna suddenly nuke my auto trans with high boost yet, and if i do get this im mounting it out of sight like next to the hood latch or something so it wont be visible.

any suggestions on other ebc's that wont damage my pocket but will just do the same thing, or any views on the profec b would be very appreciated. dumping allot of money this spring and want to make sure its in the right place.

you can't lower boost with a boost controller

I concur. I don't think you'll see fuel cut unless your WG is shimmed. Also, I am not entirely happy with my profec bspec II. I always have to adjust the damn thing. One day I'll be getting 14psi and the next day, 12.

I think you're assuming wrong here. Sure, you'll probably see a couple more pounds of boost and more power, my guess being those mods make the induction system much more efficient, which equals power. I'd say install them, drive the car and see what happens. I did it to mine, and I never hit fco without a boost controller. Good luck.

Boost controllers can not lower your boost below what ever your waste gate spring is set at. If you shim your waste gate it has nothing to do with fuel cut other than allowing the boost to build up to the point to that point of course.
All manual boost controllers are not worth the money. You may set it for 13 psi in 3rd but it will boost to a higher level in 4th and then a higher level i 5th gear. And so it will be a lower psi in 2nd. Some double valve mbc's help keep this to a minimum. But you will not have a set psi through out the gears in your pull. I think mbc's are helpful to blow your head gasket.

An ebc will keep your waste gate shut till you hit the set boost level. The level of boost must be higher than what the waste gate spring is set at. The EBC can not open a WG at a lower point. If you are spending that amount of cash go ahead and get a ebc even if it is used. Shim your wg at least one washer to put preasure on the WG to make it stay shut to keep out boost creep and other problems.
An ebc will have a boost gage higher than the oem and i would not ever boost over stock without knowing your boost level. That is asking for trouble.

I really like my blitz Spec R. Once i figured out what the instructions were trying to tell me it is simple and direct. With 4 separate boost settings, boost warning and very steady boost levels. It works very well. It is a higher priced ebc tho.

I have a weak spring'd wastegate actuator I will sell you. It will only boost to 7 psi on my car no matter what I set the controller too.....haha

None of your fucking business
Jebus, I was indeed hitting fuel cut with after the ddp. While taking my car apart I found a hole in the intercooler that someone had patched very poorly. My guess is that it held the stock boost, but 10 or 11psi with the ddp and goliath was too much and it wasn't able to hold causing a leak and premature fuel cut. I'd invest in a manual boost controller and a good gauge for the time being. You of course will love the ddp :icon_bigg Oh and turbo joe is selling a Greddy Profec B spec II right now! He is asking $200 plus ship, but I'm sure you could talk him down :) http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12147
