Somehow I don't think that sensor is for the airbags, considering that I have the sensor, but my car is an '89, so no airbags...
I don't normally like to guess at things but it could be for the TD box, cruise control box, or an option like the Super Monitor. As I recall all are located in that area.
Nick: You be welcome. As they say, each of us knows something...together we know it all. I'm not familiar with the Supra's airbag system but I can tell you from other systems I've worked on the accelerometers used for bag deployment are sophisticated gadgets and not usually mounted in such a place.

if that connector is near the ECU its for the Traction control CPU there are two boxes there typically.
the ECU and 3 more WHITE connectors for the ABS/Traction Control
the ECU and 3 more WHITE connectors for the ABS/Traction Control

I think it is. I know my 87 came harnessed for everything even if it wasn't installed. I know this cuz I later installed the Super Monitor, which I've since yanked and sold.
