if you dont have spring compressors point the hat away from you as you loosen the bolt.

Actually, if you don't have spring compressors and you loosen the top bolt those springs can come off with incredible force. You could get killed/seriously maimed by just loosening them because they will come flying off and the spring perch will become a projectile.

Get some spring compressors and be careful.

no, I don't have new struts, I am using the factory for now until I save for bilsteins.

keep saving for the new struts, it will make your life much easier. Lowering springs + Stock used struts FTL.

Should have just got the Bilsteins first as you can lower the car using the stock springs if using these shocks. It's my current setup right now and so far it handles great.

Let him learn the hard way...

If he doesn't notice it while loosening the top nut then he deserves to have that thing explode in his face.

in all honesty...if he jacks the car up off the ground with no pressure on the wheels then nothing bad will happen...it will pop a bit but not much.

But he will never get it all back together without spring comps!!

And for shits and giggles..let's say by the grace of god he gets it all back together....I give those stock shocks 2 weeks before the car rides like its in water.

im with 626...

all of you are being VERY harsh. he obvisouly has never done a spring job... so yes, he has lots to learn. but were here to help people, not tell them to get hurt.

go rent a spring compressor, a local auto parts store should let you borrow one with a deposit, and you get it back when your done. or you can make your own... but, they have a tool. so ues it.

shocks not struts ; )

And I did give the dude advice...but seriously its common knowledge to never run drop springs on stock shocks or even new oem replacements....you need shocks that are valved for such springs.

Anyway...to the OP:

You won't get those shocks back in the car without spring compressors....and your shocks are going to blow (litterally) within a very short time with those springs...so I hope you get the money for new shocks that can handle a lowering spring....it is very very unsafe to drive with blown shocks!

get your car aligned right after your done or you'll get lots of wear, also check to see if your tie rods can be loosened while your in there. mine are froze up so no alignment, and my camber is pretty jacked, so lots of wear....damnit

I had to spend many hours under mine cutting all the bolts, tried heat, big air impacts, Toyota dealer couldn't get them off. I did, and bought all new bolts, washers, everything I could replace. I had a few hundred in just bolts and washers.
