Shit happens, just stop speeding!

I think you meant stop speeding and getting caught... :sarcasm:

I'm not sure how it works in TN, but here in NY (or at least whenever I've had to go- once for 15 over, once for 20 over), you show up to court, occasionally enter a not guilty plea with someone official, wait around for the judge to call you, he usually drops it to a standing violation (costs more, but no black spot on your record), then you go home and vow never to speed again...

...which works for about a month.

Live and learn,... the hard way. Suck to hear that. Also there goes your reasonable insurance rates. :nono: I have been ticket free for almost 3 years now. It took me a long time to learn.

bummer. ive had about 9 or so. do u know how much it is yet.

its $93 just to pay the ticket, but if i go to court and then defensive driving class it'll be like $150, but iam pretty sure if you do the defensive driving it wont make your insureance go up idk i gotta call and find out.

Once I learned not to give Officer Friendly a reason to stop me, I've been revenue-enforcement free and clean for 9 years, knock on wood. See if they let you go to traffic school for a dismissal or at least no point penalty.

When I got my first (and only) speeding ticket, I was going 60 in a 45. Had to go to court, pay the ticket and court fees. ALWAYS ask for court supervision! I had that for 3-4 months, and had to take a defensive driving class. After all that was said and done, the ticket was wiped clean and no blemish on my record.

Of course, if you get another ticket while on supervision, both go on your record and you can't get supervision/dd class for the second one.

Wow. It seems like NY is pretty forgiving of speeding, compared to all of these other stories...

Going to driving school is the same as pleading guilty. The insurance companies monitor your convictions not your points. You should reserve your driving school option as a last ditch attempt when your record has got you in trouble and are near to loosing your drivers license. Long story short. Get a lawyer. If its your first offense or quite some time since your last ticket and you didn't smart off at the officer chances are the judge will let you walk for a court fee. The system isn't meant to punish citizens in good standing with the law. The system was designed to punish habitual offenders and generate revenue aka court fees. Never ever plead guilty. Work the system with someone who knows the system. In our 30 yrs of driving my wife and I have had two out of four speeding tickets cost us only the lawyers fee. Reason being two of the tickets were issued with errors. My lawyer told me so. The other two tickets had court fees only. Lawyer up you have nothing to lose. If the judge is in a foul mood and he charges you guilty than you can still ask for the driving school option and in most states he is obligated to give you that option if you haven't previously used it. So I've been told by the lawyers.

My First was on the way back from just getting my car from Shreveport LA. He gave me one for a 60 in a 45 and then another for no proof of insurance even though I had my existing card that showed I had insurance on my last vehicle. So I had my insurance Co. call them and inform them that any person is covered for 30days on purchase of another vehicle. Then one a couple of months later for 62 in a 45 here in Missouri. Paid the one in Barkley AR. and had my lawyer take care of the one in my hometown. Been pulled over lots and gotten away with just a need to slow down.
