car runs worse....so I guess I just play with them one at a time until the car feels the best?

BTW, the unorthodox racing cam gears are really nice..... 5 bolt pattern, nice finish. I was going to get AEM's but they were backordered.

UR says 1-2 degrees advance on the intake side, and 2-3 degrees retard is what they found to make the most power throughout the RPM range ON THE 7MGTE. Just thought some people might wanna know

I'm guessing once you get them to zero, or using them on an otherwise stock car, the advance and retard is from true 0....

But true 0 changes with all the variables such as gasket thickness head and block surface height even cam belt age/wear/stretch.

Would be nice to graph a stock cam and find out where 50 thou lift is in degrees.

Kurt: You need to know what the lift @ 50 thou is meant to be, once you have that you put a degree wheel on the crank snout find true 0 and line it up with a pointer.

You then get a dial indicator and place the tip on the cam follower and turn the crank seeing where the wheel is when you hit 50 thou lift then either advance or retard it from there.

To get mine right with the 3mm head gasket I had to advance mine 3 and 4.5 degrees.

Excellent. Thanks!
I'm sure it's just the fact that I woke up moments ago... that doesn't make a lot of sense right now...
I'll read that a couple more times later on, after I've woken up a bit. haha

Actually when you mill a head or block and lower the cams it retards. Adding thickness to the HG and raising the cams will advance the cam timing. You should have went the other way if you were trying to get it back to stock.

Custom ground Cams Clifton.

They're degreed to the timing tag that came with them and this shows what I'm talking about perfectly.

If I had just blindly followed conventional thought on the subject it would have been wrong and ran like ass ;)

As soon as you change anything you really need an accurate baseline for any further adjustments.
