instead of buying a test pipe, can i just get some exhaust pipe and weld it to my dp adn my cat back exhaust and eliminate the cat. it would be a lot cheaper. what would be the results in doing this i.e. hp gain.

test pipe=cheap
test pipe=bolt on bolt off
ticket for no cat=replace test pipe with cat
welded pipe=womp womp

my opinion, spend the 40 bux or so for the test pipe and incase you choose to or need to opt back to a cat, buy a 3" high flow cat in the future... It also makes it simpler if you have to detach your catback if you have a bolt in part there.

I just had the muffler shop weld a flange so the rest of my exhaust bolts up to the DP. I would agree if there is a possibility of getting in trouble for not having a cat it would be easier to buy a test pipe.. Just for reasons mentioned in the ^^^^^^post.
