so im heading off to the dyno friday to have my safcII tuned.(btw thanks to everyone who answered my maft/safc questions on my other thread) So before I go I'm trying to figure what I need to know/ask before and when I arrive there since ive never been to the dyno before. My questions are as follows.

1) With the maft now...will i be able to tune to say 14 psi without fuelcut....can i tune around this if i do?

2)What would be a good air/fuel ratio for the car...I daily drive the car mind you.

3) Do most places allow you tune run a baseline pull to see where you are at before tuning or will they not let you do to the possibility of running lean? (I know they do hookup a wideband so im not worried about the actual tuning)

4) Is there different settings for the SAFCII----such as low boost and high boost controller settings

5) What should i expect power wise.....im was hoping for around 300....
mods are:
K&N intake
3inch elbow, dp, highflow cat, tanabe cat back exhaust
greddy profect A boost controller.....7psi dd.....12psi high setting(looking to be 14 if possible)
upgraded plugs and wires
MAFT
SAFCII
and i think thats it...i cant remember the rest that would affect performance

Robbo: While I have NFI on the Maft Q's here's my take on the rest

It's your car you're paying for the dyno time so you can specify how many pulls and what types!

If they're doing something you don't like pull the pin as the dyno is a harsh artificial environment for a car and it can sometimes load up a motor much harder than on the street!

Point in case I have a knock sensor display in my car and on the street it never gets past 2 leds but on the dyno it flashed all of em including the big bad red led!

Don't be cocky or a smartarse but make sure they don't hurt your car and as you're paying the bill you're the boss!

Provided your injectors are large enough. Taking fuel out raises fuel cut, but read below for A/F answers.

For a 7M on factory pistons, I'd tune for 11.8:1 at full throttle & boost for a street driven car. That's very safe and you won't have to worry about blowing it up if you get on it on a cold day.

Most dynos (mine included) charge hourly. You can do pretty much whatever you want during that time. If they offer something like $65 for 3 pulls, that's usually just power tests with no wideband and no tuning allowed.

Unfortunately, no.

100% stock turbo, IC & fuel? I wouldn't expect more than 290 - 300 at the wheels with the boost wicked way up. At 14 psi I'd suspect around 260-270 if it's running well.

i have also seen people do this...but maybe it depends on location/temperature outside as well??

I've seen a few cars make wacky high numbers. And I've also seen some 7M's struggle to make 300 with the stock turbo. Those are nice safe easy numbers for him to make. I just don't want to put out there "you should make 310" and have him keep pushing the car harder and harder to try to make a number.

And it's been years since I've dealt with stock 7M's - I could just be misremembering my numbers. There's nothing stock around here anymore.

Actually, you do have two settings: A and B... and on some, On and OFF, lol... I dont know why... But my black SAFC2 had an "A" and a "B" setting, and my silver SAFC2 had an "ON" and an "OFF", lol... But you shouldnt need it for the boost levels you plan to run... Use your SAFC to tune for the higher boost... And on a stock CT, you can go as high as 15psi before you have to start being concerned... My last CT I was running 15 all day, and she was fine, so 14psi will be good for you...

And guesstimating hp on a dyno is a hit and miss thing... I try to shoot low, that way if I break it, then Im happy... :evil2:

so if i have them tune for 12 psi (14psi if i dont get fuel cut) then when im daily driving i shouldnt worry about a/f on 7psi being off? I just want to make sure because i cant purchase a wideband till early may

If anything the car would run a little richer @ 7 psi - nothing to worry about. I ran a S-AFC/Lexus setup for years with 3 different boost settings. The 7M ECU does a good job. Don't sweat it.

Yeah Robbo, you should be fine... When I tuned mine on an SAFC, I tuned for high boost... When you lower the boost, you arent hurting your motor, might run a weeee bit richer, but not at that low of a boost, I mean, really, 7psi is practically stock boost, your ecu will take care of that no problem... And you arent running the stock afm anymore, so fuelcut shouldnt be an issue for you... I think your best bet would be to throw her up on the dyno and see what's up... Let your tuner do his job for you... And you should be fine... Once he sets it, leave it alone... Just push the boost button, and that's it...
