Getting the Itch to Drive a Supra

In doing a pre-purchase inspection of a used MKIII supra what are the most critical items to check. Is a compression check the best for telling you the condition of the motor? Will it tell you if you have a BHG? I feel pretty good about my knowledge of most of the car's systems but I do not have the skills to do major engine work.

I have read a lot on threads and found some great info on pre-purchase inspections on this site.

Looking forward to driving a MKIII again soon (maybe this weekend).
