I was wondering if anyone could explain to me how to get rid of the 180km/hr governor on the 1jz. I tried doing a search but couldn't find anything.
Thanks.

or that speed limit cut controller from hks or greddy.

Where do I locate this wire? Any pics? I just want to make sure I don't cut the wrong one.

It goes into the ecu above the glove box. I believe there is only 1 pink wire but to be sure try to find a wire diagram for the 1jz and find the speed sensor. Check 1jz-gte.com for the diagrams. I'm not sure exactly what negative things might happen as i havent actually done it, but you have an original 1jz correct? so if you have the digital dash version it may not send the signal to that if you cut the wire.

well i just did it, and it works.......wow does it ever work.
if ne thing it makes my 1jz run better, it actually idles better then it did, but that is just from my experiance, the only thing it did was throw a code, so now the engine light is on!

oh and by the way, you have to take out the glove box and the plastic cover above it, thus it will expose the ecu.....becareful tho, the abs unit is rite beside it, the ecu is on the right, and it will say engine computer! and there is only one pink wire.....atleast on mine neways!

The CEL is on all the time because the ECU is not getting a signal. The only other thing that you lose is the progressive power steering.

The car will not lean out. Fuel is rpm related, not speed related. If you don't lean out at 7k in first, you wont in 5th either.

at slow speeds the powersteering pump gives more power to help you steer, but at high speeds it progressively gets less sensitive so you dont slightly turn the wheel and wreck and die.

as for the speed cut mine ONLY came on when i was WOT for like 8 seconds or more then it stayed on until i turned the car off and restarted it. but how often do you go over 120??

Did anyone try a switch that cut it temporarily? So you still have your PPS but you don't get stuck under 110

i dunno but why dont you try it? i had no speed cut cause my speedo cable was busted and my CEL came on when i was WOT for a while. then i got my speedo cable and now the CEL doesn't come on but i've had it above 120 and it didn't cut out. i dunno

yea you guys prolly had ecu up grades, my buddie had his computer chipped and he went abouve 120 with the pink wire intact, but his engine light would come on if he was at WOT for more then 8sec, which was weird and i still dont get it
