Thanks to a recent post on SM,i've decided to swap out my auto for a manual. But I have a few questions,
1. What manual is best for the swap? I think there are 2 different tranny's that the soop had
2. Do I need to change out MT to Auto trranny ECU's?
I already have the dash cluster, peadal assemby's(clutch and brake) and I plan on just getting a re-build kit for the resivour.
I know, a TRANNY too,but which one?

theres a r154 (turbo model) and a w58 (NA model) pick accordingly of course.

no you can use the auto ecu you just need to jump the neutral start safety switch which is easy.

and FYI you need a LOT more parts then what you say you have collected already to do the swap ;)

good luck

need sLave Cylinder/ Master cylinder all w/ Lines, get SS bradied Hydraulic line,PP, flywheel, clutch, DS is what else you need, and you Rewire the harness for Neutral safety, and Reverse light,

W58 shifts smoother, but its Debatable on how much power it can hold, it all depends on how your gonna abuse it.

R154 is a Much Larger Transmission, More Beefier Inside, Holds Alot more power, and Is Alot more $ to buy, But Worth it if you plan on making some Decent Power

5spd swaps can be a real PITA without a parts car.

Nah, its not that bad.

Just a hint - do NOT swap out the entire brake pedal assembly. The bracket for the auto and manual brake pedals are the same. The big auto pedal just comes out of the bracket and the new, smaller manual one slides right in.

Also, make sure you get the manual "wings" because they are NOT the same as the auto ones. I learned the hard way.

Other than that, it all goes right in. Theres even precut holes for the clutch master cylinder and everything.

Goodluck with the swap.
