OK Now Im just trying to get all the carbon off the underside of the engine (crankshaft and around it) and off the sides and other places. What are some good strong chemicals I can use that will basically eat it away and what methods do I use? Something safe that I can douse the crank with.
Also, can I pressure wash the internals (crankshaft and all of that) if so what do I do after since water will be all over it...

Oh and whats that damn thing on the side of the block in front of the starter that connects to the wire harness and has a vac hose?

Build thread starts tomorrow.

i prefer ether for cleaning. works awesome, dries fast, no residue. just be sure you have good ventilation and dont buy too much at a time or the DEA will be knocking on your door.

theres still a few parts on it and a hot tank is probably expensive as hell, over $50 and I cant do it, let alone do I have the time. Also Im not changing the main bearings, just all the rod bearings, so they are staying in.
