no way man you will blow the manifold!

no way, he will blow the floor pan bolts!

I am not sure if the heat would hurt it but if I had a possible bomb in the back of my car I would just paint it not powdercoat it. You can get the bottle pressure tested after powdercoating if you really wanted to be sure it was ok still. Most welding gas supply places should be able to test a nitrous bottle.

lol @ FnF...

Anyway, obviously the only concern is the heat so I think you should try and find out which would be better: bottle open or closed during heating (to hold in or release pressure while its heated) and then either way I would get it pressure tested as well.

I personally wouldn't trust anyone on a forum regarding this question! Even someone that studied materials science, they're not going to have a definitive answer for you. You want to change the properties of the bottle that is keeping you from blowing up LOL

I'd call the manufacturer of the NOS bottles directly and ask them if it can be done, or if they know anyone that has done it. I'm sure they can give you a much better answer then we can. Even they may not want to answer it however, out of fear of opening themselves up to possible liability.

Whatever you decide, pay up your life insurance policy first ;) Good luck!

If you want to powder coat the bottle you will need to get it re-certified. I was going to do the same thing but didn't want the hassle. I asked a track officail and that is what he told me.

I also spoke with guys from NOS and they recommended against it.
So you CAN trust people on here

Hope that helps

i would think that the power coat would not help with the heat issue. either its gonna trap too much heat in out out of the bottle.

im anti n.o.s. so my answer might not help any.

think about it, tons of people have built their supra up without using nos.
why, no nos? well, if ya cant build a motor to make big hp numbers or go fast on its own, then why try to blow your self up using a bottle.

You'll be lucky if you don't blow the welds on the intake manifold. Then you and the mad scientist will have to rip apart the block and replace the piston rings you fried...but you'll be able to drive your car at 100+ right afterwards, so no worries. :D
