So I'm almost at the point of putting my turbo back together....gaskets are holding me up. Now I'm not cheap but let's be honest with eachother here....are felpro gaskets really that bad? I don't need the headgasket but I need all the misc crap like intake, throttle, exhaust etc....will felpro do the job or is it seriously without question worth spending the $400ish on a Toyota kit???!!?!?

This car isn't going too break any records I just want it too run well...if I seriously don't have too drop the extra coin then that would be nice as I'm sure you all know that this shit adds up soo so so very fast! I'm trying too get this pig running by Xmas so I can visit my family 12 hours away! Every $ counts and the more I spend on 1 part the longer my deadline gets!

I would go the toyota route. Only buy the gaskets you need, when I bought all the gaskets for my engine it came up to $167 for everything that I needed.

You have very little stock shit left on your car sean....I need more stock gaskets than you....it's friggin expensive:-(

I have been using them in 7Ms for 10 years, never had a problem with them.

If I could hear atleast 4 more people say the same then I'm spending my $250 on felpro...I'll buy my injector seals from Toyota etc....but I can't see why I need Toyota turbo drain gasket or Toyota crush washers for banjo bolts etc.

Just too clear my position up...I've came too terms with buying Toyota but I want someone too convince me it's not needed when felpro will do the job.

I just finished my entire top end build with felpro gaskets and so far no problems. Driven 1000km on them over the last month and a bit. No leaks (that were the gasket's fault at least). I did have to modify the throttle body gasket included in the kit because the opening was WAY to small, but that's the only issue I had.

Opening? Gasket would actually cause a restriction in air flow?

Yeah, I had to cut out about an extra 3/4" diameter in the center hole. It wasn't just felpro though, I asked for a generic gasket to compare at the local car parts store and Napa and saw the same gaskets. Here's a small pic of the type that's included in the felpro kit:

As you can see, the opening in the gasket is HORRIBLY small. It's just big enough for the butterfly valve to open, and that's all. Did some trimming with an exacto-knife and everything was fine though :).

Where is the coolant holes in that gasket?

From my experience, felpro is an overall good company that makes very nice replacement gaskets for domestics and imports in equal quality. I just bought my top end cometic gasket kit for $199 shipped from them and i plan on using their supplied HG, but i havent been home to check it out, if you do go with Cometic, be prepared to wait atleast a week for the kit to be manufactured.

i used felpro for my top end build minus the metal head gasket and i had no probs. 3k miles later my bottom end went out and im using felpro again for the rebuild.
I used felpro in my (not to compare engines) 22re and have been running it for 6yrs with no prob.

I also was hoping too get a gasket kit that replaces every damn o-ring, crush washer, whatever...one kit that dies it all instead of being like "damnit I gotta run too Toyota and order a part then wait 2 days"...

List of crap felpro gaskets:
- Turbo throttle body gasket
- Exhaust manifold gasket
- EGR cooler gasket

That's off the top of my head. Throttle body gasket can be made to fit with cutting, but shouldn't have to. The exhaust manifold gasket is complete garbage (same type of cheap chinese gasket that you see on ebay) and won't seal for long. EGR cooler gasket isn't the right material at all and won't take the heat. Changing it while the engine is in the car is NOT fun.
