ur not likely to finda headgasket kit thats all regular gaskets w/ a metal headgasket... but u can get a felpro gasket set for around 200 bux, u can even find it on ebay for cheaper...and then buy a metal hg...which can cost u from 150-god knows wut depending on ur mm preference. but remember when ur doing a hg, don't use ur stock bolts...go arp...and if ur puttin a metal hg, u MUST resurface ur head and ur block, otherwise, u'll b replacing ur headgasket in a matter of days ;)
peace

i did not know that using the stock bolts was a bad thing, i definatly plan on using a metal headgasket though, just the gasket set will be cheaper and ill have to buy it seperatly, this motor is gunna be basicly stock with bolt ons only, no major boost or anything fancy, ill build another motor for that and drop it in at a later date, but for now all i want is turbo!! any idea where i could find that gasket kit for 200??? im not worried about shipping either, all i want is a resonable price on a kit that is not 100% crap, thank you again for the info, and please keep it coming.

i live in IL, and i got mine from advance auto in wisconson, it was i think 220 bux after taxes...u can get it from ebay...felpro is a great brand, i've used that on 4 of my cars and it holds up pretty well...if ur not looking 2 boost crazy style, don't worry about a metal HG...just use a felpro kit and gasket, that way u save money by not havin 2 refinish ur head and block...just get tha head checked 2 make sure there are no hairline cracks...u can do that at NAPA...which i believe is accross tha US...and use arp headbolts...7ms gaskets go bad because of tha headbolts, not tha gaskets themselves, tha bolts are made to stretch a certain length and hold a certain amt of pressure, after a while they cannot hold tha pressure n e more and u blow ur hg...so if u use arp bolts...like 120 bux...u won't hav that problem if ur not upping ur boost
hope that helps

I do believe it was not so much the bolts themselves, but more that the torque value was not high enough for the bolt. There for they would loosen over time.

the max boost ill be looking at will be about 15-18lbs, is that ok for a regular head gasket???

BTW, a full OEM HG kit from Curt @ Elmhurst I just got the price of 241.

OR spend about 150 bucks for a full set off ebay...and there is NOTHING wrong with the gaskets from ebay...ive run about 4 sets on different engines and havent had a single problem from ANY gasket...

obviously just dont run the hg that comes with them... get a nice cometic and be done with it.

...you need at least a 50ra surface
Someone else stated it in SF like that too, as if the measurement worked like the way sandpaper is measured/rated.
I think it is the other way around. To use a Cometic you need less than 50 RA.

Sandpaper is measure in:--> # ofabrasive particles/spare inch area

RA (rougness average):--> "average of all peaks and valleys. Lower numbers indicate a smooth finish"

From http://www.ljstar.com/Default.asp
or http://www.measurit.com/FAQ/RA.html

for those interested in other measurements:
Surface roughness is calculated by a profilometer using any of four common methods: Ra, RMS, Rz, and Rt (Rmax).

A. Ra or roughness average is the average of peak and valley distances measured along the centerline of one cutoff length (usually 0.03 in.).

B. RMS or root mean square is an older method, not common today, averaging only the heights of all points measured in one cutoff length. Readings are similar to Ra but about 10% higher.

C. Rz, a 10-point average, is an average of the five highest peaks and the five lowest valleys measured in one cutoff length.

D. Rt (Rmax), maximum height between peak and valley, is the value of the vertical distance between the highest peak and lowest valley measured along one cutoff length.
