Gas/Turpentine How do I know?

I'm not very familiar with turpentine to know it's consistency. But, I had about a 1/2 tank of gas in my 89 when I stopped driving it in February. I want to try to remove the tank, and it should be a much easier job without the extra weight. I'm going to be installing the tank into my new 92, and I would love to use the gas that it has.

In the past, I have let my 90 sit for about 2 years, my white car sit for about a year, and I never had any issue with the gas in them. I live in south Alabama, where it gets very hot and very humid. I want to re-use the gas, but after reading several times that it can break down, I am a little hesitant to do so.

Any help on how to know for sure would be appreciated.

I had a good 3/4 of a tank of gas that sat in my tank for almost a year and a half. I had put Seafoam (http://www.seafoamsales.com/motor-treatment/index.html) in about 2 months after I parked it and it just sat for the rest of the time, not starting or anything. I just drove it with that gas for the last 2 days no problems at all. Obviously I wouldn't race around with that gas or anything, but it was definitely useable. From my experiences though, that seafoam stuff is pretty amazing stuff. Sucked it in my buddy's beater car through a vacuum line to clean out the combustion chambers as well as added to the gas tank to clean the injectors and got noticeably better gas mileage after that.

It shouln't be long before the car is on the road. I pulled the tank after posting this, and I didn't even drain it. It doesn't feel like it is even close to half full. Maybe a 1/4 tank. The good running motor is going in as soon as I get my wiring harness converted to fit the 92. That is very close to completion already, so hopefully only a week or two before this is running.

Pissing in your tank is probably better than putting seafoam in your tank...

^ I thought as much! Is there a safe additive I can use?

I use Sta-bil in my atv, jet ski, and landscape equipment with good results. However I put it in while the gas is fresh. I know you lost your job but you are only talking about $10-15 worth of fuel. I would put it in a gas tank and use it to start bonfires but thats just me.

just drain it and put a fresh tank of gas in, I try to avoid any situations that could lead to the defeat of my car.

This.

That gas is only 4 months old, I'd say it's ok. Might want to try to find an additive that helps remove water, though.

I've honestly never heard bad things about Seafoam. Now I'm kinda freaked out having run almost 3/4 tank of old gas through my car with the stuff in it....

I'm to lazy to search right now but search around here and you will find the usefulness and evils of the stuff.
