Question, What happens when you put in diesel fuel instead of regular unleaded gasoline?
A lot of people who didn't know, and some that did and weren't planning on trying it out got their chance this week. I found out from my neighbor today, (One of the lucky ones XD) that one of our local shell stations mixed diesel into their tanks. He had to empty out his tank and we ran the other small amount that was left through. Total pain in the ass. I told him it sounded like a dying lawnmower.

Linkage and whatnot.

I would have been really pissed of if it happened to my car

I come from a land down under
Back in 1987 I had a customer bring his new HiLux here for a Turbo, did a basic blowthrough carb system got it all finished and delivered it to him, him and his buddies constantly "tweaked it" and each time he'd bring it back complaining that it was doing blahblah wrong and would never admit they'd changed things.

One afternoon I get a call "It's broken down I'm stranded" I ask where he is I'll come get him, he say's he's at home but now it won't start....

I asked what he was doing when it broke down, he said he's just put $20 if fuel in it and described the trip home....

We go and tow it to my place I unhook a fuel line and pump some into a glass..... hold it up and ask him if it looks like gas..

He then admits he put diesel in it.

I charge him a HUGE amount to clean it out put fresh fuel in it then tell him NEVER to call me or bring it back.

I did 2000+ Km's test driving this thing for various faults he'd imagined/caused by fiddling and up until the fuel thing never charged a cent to rectify the problems.

Well over a decade ago, I worked with a girl who did this. She had a brand new '98 Taurus and went to the gas pump that was not being used. Pumped diesel in, and the car had to have some service. I don't remember all of the details. She wasn't pretty, but definitely not dog enough to have a nickname like "Diesel" - and yet it still stuck. :D

I have to admit to one time almost putting diesel in my car, I would like to think its not totally my fault though, since the pump wasn't yellow like it supposed to be (here at least), and it didn't say "diesel" anywhere on the whole gas pump. But fortunately I was saved by the larger nozzle that wouldn't fit.

In this case though its for once not the drivers fault, which sucks the most. They didn't drive in and pick the wrong pump. They drove in normally bought their gas, and left with a mixture of the two. I wonder how they will go about fixing this problem customer wise. I bet a truck driver lost his job.

Edit:
I just noticed the site's time hasn't switched over to DST yet, weird.
