Nope.

Can't the other gas stations get in trouble for raising the gas prices just becuase others are talking about running out? What's that called? Price gouging?

Ya as far as I know its not legal. There was a shortage a few years ago and a few stations got crazy with prices. They had to refund anyone who bought gas at the higher price, with receipt.

There's this bunny rabbit that comes every April to give gifts to children... Do you believe that too?

Please don't spread this bullshit. We aren't out of fucking gas...

Wow, not one mention of it...

How about local to you?

http://www.azcentral.com/

Nope, nothing...

But you must have the inside track from "someone"...

It's bullshit like this that starts mass panic.

Communism at it's absolute 100% finest.

The last time we had this bullshit here in Atlanta, there was no shortage. But the dumb masses started spreading rumors, and got out there and made a run on gas, causing a short term shortage as the fools emptied out the tanks.

Car accidents, traffic jams, fist fights, shootings, mass panic.. Yea. Fuckin' brilliant.

The trucks rolled all night and the gas came back.

Then our dumbass fucking governor fixed prices and got kudos for it from the dumb masses. Then we did run out of gas, because supply and demand were tampered with.

Listen folks, this shit is not that fucking hard to understand.

If there is a lot of gas, it is cheap, and everyone buys it willy nilly. When the supply becomes shorter, the price goes up. This causes people to consider whether or not they are going to get as much as they originally planned. With prices high, people only buy what they need, they take fewer unnecessary trips, and there is gas available for purchase when it's needed. A free market is self correcting.

Then the dumbass fucking government steps in with it's pandering to the communist masses. They come out with terms like "price gouging" and "profiteering", the dumb masses (YOU) eat it up and get bullshit fed into your Survivor & American Idol filled heads. So government mandated price fixing goes into affect, the price is artificially low. The free market is prevented from protecting itself and fails as people feel safe wasting gas, because they are protected from the government by rising prices.

Welcome to the self fulling prophecy...

Stop being dumb fucking sheep please. Most Americans are an embarrassment and I'd be ashamed to be one if everyplace else weren't even more pathetic...

Edit: This particular topic really gets me bent out of shape. It reminds me of a few things. Firstly, how gullible the average person is and how little they understand about how anything works, second, how dangerously thin the line between order and chaos is in this country, and thirdly, how far we've come towards Communism, and how we have fulfilled all 10 points of Marx's Communist Manefesto. So forgive me if I get bent out of shape, I just don't like being reminded that the United States failed as a Constitutional Republic about 50 years ago, and how it is now exactly what Marx wanted...

Well when my mom calls me up and says she had to go to more than 5 stations to find gas, I dont consider it a rumor. I find it odd that many stations(if not more) are suddenly Closed because they are out of gas. Its not a rumor or second hand info when I went and saw for myself lol. Yellow things over the pumps and prices taken off the big signs is cause for my concern.

I wasnt trying to create panic or any political garbage, just wondering if anyone else had closed stations too.

Oh, I don't doubt it at this point. Once the rumor mill starts running, people do what they always do, panic.

The last time this shit happened here I had to call the fire martial because the asshole next door was storing over 250 gallons of gasoline in his house... In his basement.... Some of it in buckets and glass bottles...

I'm sure the panic out there has already started. It's too late now. Stay indoors and wait for it to blow over.

The reason for the increased prices is this:

http://money.cnn.com/2007/10/29/markets/bc.oilprices.ap/index.htm?postversion=2007102910

Even if the Mexico shutdown in crude production created a "shortage" you wouldn't see that shortage in gasoline at the pumps for quite some time.

There is no excuse for ignorance. None. I don't understand how people can go through life like a leaf on the wind, not knowing what's going on, and just getting blown around by the changing wind...

I guess I should have worded my topic different. I didnt mean like nation wide we are outa gas kind of Shortage. I remember one time I saw people filling their tank then milk jugs with gas :aigo:

Im going to try and fill up on my way to work at like 3am tonight lol. The jeep holds enough to last me at least a week if there is a local shortage.

Oh, still theres got to be a reason all the local stations are dry though. I can see 1 or 2 but not that many...

No, it's not your wording.

As I said in the edit in my 1st post, it's a touchy subject for me... I saw it first hand here in Atlanta back when Katrina hit. It was insane. Anytime anyone questions me about why I am always armed, I think back to that mass hysteria and panic. No way will I leave myself at the mercy of panicked sheep.

I'm not really directing this at you, more at the people who probably have run 1/2 your stations dry already.

It just one of those topics that gets me instantly pissed off. :D

I can't stand stupidity, mass stupidity doubly so...

I agree, people see 1 station is outa gas then they go fill up 50gallons worth at the next station, then it spreads. I just didnt know if it was that kind of situation or if other places had no gas either....

Gas wont be out for maybe an another 50-60 years or more. Thats according to a research for the rate we are using and population are growing. For now prices are rising because those rich bastard want more money.

It'll be longer than that. If it does come to that for some odd reason though. Maybe the oil rigs that have been shut down will finally open back up... The tree huggers will be pissed though ;).

I don't see the planet running out of hydrocarbons anytime soon honestly, it's not dinosaur remains like what was originally thought.

Too true. We have produced 650 billion barrels of oil so far, and another trillion barrels in proven oil reserves have yet to be produced.

There are an additional 10 trillion barrels of oil resources that await development once it becomes financially viable to do so. There's bitumen, shale oil and oil in existing fields that could produced through enhanced recovery methods. We dont' bother with these methods today because there is no reason to. There's plenty of easy to reach oil out there.

Scarcity is not the problem.

The largest threat to the free worlds supply of oil is the religion of environmentalism. The environmentalist religion in the United States & other western European nations has slowed, and in some cases completely stopped the development of new crude oil sources and more importantly, refineries.

If allowed to continue, they will destroy the world's economy and doom billions (perhaps trillions) of people in developing countries to perpetual poverty.

If it seems absurd to you that I call environmentalism is a religion, then chances are you are ignoring the reality around you.

Regardless of it's true nature, it leaves the western world beholden to the Middle East, an area that is rife with conflict, instability and hatred for us.

Time to wake up and smell the coffee folks, it doesn't have to be like this.

Feel free to post it Kai...

Don't get me wrong, I want clean air, clean water and healthy animals. I believe we can have all of those, without crippling our economy and destroying our entire way of life.

The environmentalist religion is just that, a religion. It's earth worship in it's most basic form demanding the sacrifice of our economy and way of life to appease the earth god. It's a sick and twisted form of self hatred, and it gets worse and worse every day.

John M. Ostrowski (atjanus006@gmail.com) wrote a great piece on it back in March of this year:

http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig8/ostrowski-john1.html

That's the thing you should ask people to read. It explains a whole lot of what you are seeing, and why we need to stop it quickly...
