Hey guys, Well as I was doing the finishing touched to my bottom end for my supra, I was wondering why Toyota had a spot for a manual fuel pump on the block and a lobe on the oil pump drive. Did they every use it? Also cause I am running Aeroquip lines I wanted to replace the plate with the fuel return tube. I was going to order the one from suprasport for 30.00, but when I visited the local speed shop I saw one for a ford that was chrome for 7.99. Sure as shit it was exactly the same size as the one on the supra, same bolt holes everything. So I bought it an it fit perfect, a very nice clean look, much cheaper then the one from suprasport. Here is the part # if you guys are interested.

does anyone know why Toyota put the in the block for a manual fuel pump
?

the 7m is the last of the M series of motors, many of which (the previous M's) used mechanical fuel pumps.

grinding or leaving it there is just fine. But you can get them thru Mr Gasket @ Oreilly auto parts. Normal cost like 5.50 at the most iirc.
If you are like me then get it for the final touches. not expensive at all and it looks great.

u might be able to see the part number in this picture. part # 1516 FTW

The only problem I found with the one from Mr. Gasket, is that it is a lot smaller in width then the size of the one from Toyota, were as the one from Ford is exactly the same.

nash, are you talking about chiseling off the j-pipe and there was no hole, or removing the entire J-pipe plate, and there was no hole?

if you're talking about removing the entire plate, and there was no hole, that's incredibly odd, and i've never heard of that! i'd love to see pics!

my motor is an '89, and i had the large hole in the block under the plate...

i am anti-ford! i would NEVER put anything on my ride that was intended for a ford product. i would rather junk the supra and ride a tricycle to work and back.

thats all i have to say. just my .02

and now i say good day.
