Fuel resistor with relay removal.

I have read about putting wire in the connector but then you still get a moment of no power to the pump when the relay is switching, right?

Id rather remove both and wire it like the picture to get 12V constant to the walbro fuel pump.
Check out the pic and let me know if I thought this out right.

iirc, a relay will take about 25-50 ms to close. i personally am not worried about that short amount of time but if you do this and its easy to do and reach then please let us all know as it would be a less complex system, and im all for removing complexity.

btw. lots of walbro questions today. we all have fuel in our head or something.

oh, i forgot the relay was right next to the resistor.:icon_roll

so yeah easy to do. but it might be possible that the ecu will show an error code if the relay is removed. anyone know for sure?

i just cut the relay off the resistor, and then used the origional mount for the relay TO the resistor to fasten the relay to the firewall. it looks more clean than having the resistor there. i'm leaving the relay. i opened it up to clean it, (wasnt working properly) and had my dad watch how long it takes to close, and as soon as the car is started it closes IMMEDIATELY. so it's only open when you crank it...

actually the relay switches between 12v and <12v (through the resistor) depending on how much voltage the ecu thinks the fuel pump should be getting. its never actually "open". and it does switch when youre driving, not just when you crank.

so why not just delete the fuel resistor pack, just jump the 2 wires together to get a constand 12v flow, thats what alot of people do. correct? or is there another purpose to deleting the relay itself

With jumping the resistor... is this what you mean? ..don't look at the red X's, i used the picture on this thread.

yeah thats what i mean, just cut the male end of the plug thats on the resistor off with a little wire, strip and solder the 2 ends together, and plug it back in and 12v theres another thread goign on right now about 12v mod its called "what do you know......" look at that thread

I call that a beginners mod.
You still get that little moment of 0 power to the pump when it switches, noticable maybe not but I dont like it!

My idea was to completely remove the relay and its resistor to clean up the bay and at the same time get CONSTANT 12V+ to the pump.
And at the same time remove 1 source of faliure, a relay that is not needed.

Hmm, well I thought this was news but its old news :icon_bigg

I did thats why I wrote old news.

Larry had problems with 12V mod and some didnt have.
So I think I will wait and see what happens before I spend to much time on something that may not work as its supposed too.
