I am upgrading my fuel system and for my HP plans the walbro 255 is not going to hack it. I am thinking of going with the Bosch 044 mounted in the tank. I have found one at reliable source for about $200 delivered. Any comments?

What HP are you going for?

perhaps do a search on a thread i did calculating the power of the Walbro 255. If you did you would know it it more than adequate for that power.

Sorry that I didnt find that thread earlier.
The pump you choose will need to flow at the boost level your running at. so an NA car is running 36-43 PSI if we go to say 22 PSI we need 58 to 65 PSI at the injector so You may want to put a fudge factor to compensate for head loss in the pipes.

The link you had on the other thread was dead this site has something simular.

according to the chart at 70 PSI and 13.5 volts the HF walbro is flowing about 210 LPH = 3500 CC/MIN using figgies' math this is equal to 666 HP damn I love that number :evil5:

If the chart and numbers are correct, then the walbro 255 HP should do nicely for 550 HP, thanks figgie

yea, why not just buy another walbro and run both for failsafe in the event of pump failure? I think thats what most guys do

answer is simple. Why run two? More chance of failure and unless you are somehow MONITORING that both pumps are running. All it takes is one lean run to destroy an engine.

Do it right the first time or do it right the second time after you blow the motor up from cheaping out/cutting corners the FIRST time ;)
