frsh rebuild, no start????

so heres the deal. i rebuilt my 87 7m in my auto class. Honed cylinders, balanced, cleaned up n everything. Stock rebuild. I milled the head. It had some bad warpage. I think i took 15 thous off. I used new stock HG, i was short on funds and had to get it together (i knew i would be running a lil higher compression). So i get the motor in the car, oil it up time it. turn the key to start and it doesnt. cranks over but no start.

i get a little pop here and there but no start up. Ive re-timed it like 10 times!! Idk what is wrong with it. i about a quarter tank of like 3 yr old gas. The guy at a local parts store said instead of siphoning it to put a bottle of sea foam and fill up the rest with good gas. So i did with some BP ultimate. What do you think it could be?

I WANNA START THIS THING UP!!!!!

When you say you timed it 10 times, do you mean cam timing, CPS timing or ignition timing?
Cam timing and cps timing need to be in check to start the car, ignition timing will come after it runs.
Do you have fuel, how about spark?

everything is timed. Cam notches point up and the crank at 0. and i meant i redid the cps. Yes i get fuel and spark.

Check the cps connector. Mine did the same thing a little pop when trying to start. Pull on the wires at both sides of the connector and see if the break off. They are known to get baked by the exhaust manifold. I solder mine together and did away with the connector. You can order the connector from driftmotion if it is your problem.

nope nothin broke off or anything like that. i dont know what it could be, its really bugging me!!

I would start with the cps and check the resistance on each coil and you said you did pull on the wires a little a the connector. Mine was still connected but I wiggled them and my car started right up. Also on the coil packs starting from left to right how did you hook them up. It should be 1-6,3-4,and 2-5. Some people get that mixed up with the firing order.

Check to be sure you are not missing any of your grounds. Also, the car will not start if you have any sort of fuel leak.

Try jiggling the cps wires while cranking. Mine does it every once in a while. Sounds funny but it works.

Did you get new spark plugs?

Although you say you've timed the cps correctly, I suggest you try starting it with the cps tightening bolt out. Try moving the cps to an extreme retard position, and then an extreme advance position, and see if that affects wether or not the engine 'catches'. If it starts, check the cps adjustment position. If it's outside of the normal range(where you can put the bolt in), that tells you that the cps is off by one tooth.
