Front Windshield Wipers not Working Properly

Hey guys,

On my MK3, my front windshield wipers don't seem to be working properly. When I put the wipers on the "intermittent" setting they work for a short period of time, and then the wipers just out of no where go onto the "low" setting. But the selector is on the "INT" setting. So then, I put the selector up to the "off" position and the wipers are still on "low."

To get this to stop, I have to fool around with the selector between all the positions. Eventually they stop, and I put the selector from "off" to "INT" and they work for a little while on "intermittent" before the whole phenomenon starts again.

Any ideas as to what it could be? I was thinking the selector itself. But could it be a short in the wiring or the motor?

The wiper relay has a timer in it for the delay. I wouldn't put it on the switch right away.

Okay, I'll look up where the timer is on the TSRM. Can you still get these from Toyota? Or how would you replace this timer?

I would stick my Fluke in the column first to make sure the switch is working. Check the EWD online, it has the electrical component locator. I don't feel like looking it up.
