A lot of people have trouble with the service they receive from Maxx Auto, however it's unanimous that HPF rocks! I'd go with theirs over the Maxx.

I'm running a Hybrid "monster" i/c...it looks to be the same i/c as the Megan ones that sell for $2-300 to me. Here's a quick pic...

Here are some really old pics of mine. I'm using the stock bumper and I wanted to keep the bumper support in place, so i had to cut it with a circular saw and a metal blade. That was about the worst part of the custom work, I had to relocate the oil cooler as well. There is no issue other than that, but i knew i'd have to work with it, considering its not supposed to fit behind the stock bumper. Radiator overflow fit nicely, i had to cut out some of the support for the horns. I got mine used for about $700 and i'm very happy with it.

If they dont show up.. Intercooler

yikes...
um... NO point in installing that ic...
you are now effectively using 10% of it, and the rest of it that is blocked, is actually re-heating the air that gets cooled, so that ic is practically useless...
vent the bumper and support at least.

btw... anyone interested in buying a maxx ic kit used?
price is same as what hottscennessey paid. $700

Has anyone tried a "bottem breather" setup for the FMIC?

Basicly I want to copy what has been done with Vettes/F bodies for years. They locate the grille opening under the front bumper, and then use a shroud to draw air up over the radiator.

It works as long as the air can't go anywhere else. (Good shrouds are everything here.)

We don't need much of a shroud either. Just cut the lower part of the bumper, angle it up to the top of the FMIC, and it should pull air over the core all the time. (Even though the "grille opening is smaller than the core, it's going to flow the air through it.)

This type of setup actually works better as you go faster. (High to low pressure diferential, and the air always goes from high to low.)

Vents in the hood would make this work better. (Draws more through the radiator, and that means more through the FMIC as well.)

I have not seen this on a Supra yet. (And our cars are setup perfectly for it.)

I wanted to toy with this later on. I wanted to make a "scoop" that would be made from sheet metal, locate it under the intercooler and make it direct air up to the radiator instead. Same thing, just a different heat exchanger.

venting the bumper will help but as long as 35% of it is showing air it will nearly as effective as 90% showing and that came from a group a engineer

pic of the mounting process.....its an ebay core bar and plate, similiar to that of the Megan....could have went with a bigger one but i'm happy with that since i'm not aiming for HIGH hp...

i need to get pics of my car with the bumper on...also i cut the grill in the front off so it shows off the IC...i only did it since my bumper was cracket and the grill was half off already....
