Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if this topic belongs in the 7M-GTE section but here's my question: can I use a rear catalytic converter to replace the front-pipe converter? Does front-pipe converter make a big difference in emission?

My front converter and the rear converter were destroyed because my car was running really rich. I fixed all the problems except for the front converter. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and Merry Christmas!!!

You cannot use a rear converter to replace the front. The front converter is there to reduce emissions at idle/low RPM, especially cold...removing it completely should have little effect passing emissions (even in CA). The only thing that could happen is if the smog tech knows it is suppose to be there and notices it is missing...very unlikely.

Assuming this is a 7M-GTE downpipe, I'd get a single piece 3" elbow/downpipe and a hi flow rear CAT. The BIC divorced DP (recirculated) would be a nice upgrade.
