Front Bumper Reinforcement?

Has any year MK3 come with a lighter aluminum front bumper reinforcement? The 88 weighs a ton, either looking to swap or get rid of completely. (planning on a 89+ bumper swap anyway)

Also, if anyone has removed it, how then is the bumper mounted to the car? Does it turn into a flappy happy Honda Civic bumper:rofl:

Not worth it, the front bumper will sag and look like shit not to mention how important it is to have if you ever get into a crash

Nope, none of them came with anything other than steel. The MKIV on the other hand came with aluminum crash bars.

Thanks guys, She will mostly be a track car, however I may look into making a custom aluminum unit in the near future, but for now will keep the stocker!
