Im thinking about doing a Swap too the Turbo motor i found one but i was wondering if my w58 tranny would work with it and if the ECU is the same.

I did the NA-T swap and run with the W-58 without any problems on light mods.
You could also do the NA-1/2T. Where you just add the turbo and leave the electronics/ignition the same.
My suggestion would be find a Turbo in the junk yard to take parts off of. I'd also go with as much aftermarket as your wallet allows. Otherwise you're be like me and build the stock Turbo, then turnaround and spend more on replacing the stock parts with high performance aftermarket.
I'd also recommend getting a new wire harness. I didn't and some of the connectors started breaking as I started to change old components because the connector is old and brittle.

i went the full route - got a 91 parts car and swapped trans and diff too.....if you get a cheap parts car you can get everything in on swing......

i agree with squid try to find a parts car....

i did it in pieces I dropped the 7mgte in. then later on got a turbo lsd diff. then finally i got the r154 so shes all turbo now... would have been easier if i would have found a parts car...

do the swap you wont regret it.... good luck and keep us posted....

If i can find a parts car then I will most likely go for the Swap or if I can find the 7mgte cheap enough.. but I think for now im just gona rebuild the 7mge then turbo it in the future what are some of the turbo set ups on the 7mge? Ive seen them mostly with the Ct26s and thats about it.

Should I rebuild or buy a JDM 7mge for like 500?

Be careful about JDM motors. The heads could be different. So it depends on what smog equipment you're going to put back on. I have a JDM block and head but the head had the EGR port plugged. So I was able to use the head. Some JDM heads might not have an EGR port.

Also, beware the turbo motor has lower compression pistons. I'd recommend at least going with forged low compression pistons and full race prep'd bottom end. That way you don't have to pull the motor out later to support big HP mods. But then it really depends on you wallet.
Beware, low compression on a NA won't have as much power.
