Fresh Rebuild.. Need some questions answered!

Alright so I've been doing some research on what exactly is happening but can't come up with a specific answer in my case. I just rebuilt my 7mgTe and it smokes quite a bit out of the tailpipe. I don't notice a blue "tint", it looks white to me. I'm wondering how long it takes for the piston rings to seat and also could this be caused my a bad turbo? The turbo I have no seems fine, no shaft play etc.. but also I my boost gauge jumps all the way past 8+ psi when I turn the key to the "on" position and while its running but drops to the bottom when car is off (not sure if gauge is messed up or not). Any help would be great with this matter. Also my car currently idles high because my isc (not sure if this matters for rebuild, I heard it supposed to run for around 30 min at idle then change oil).

Supposed to make sure nothing leaks real quick and go on. 50mile drive and then change oil. Rings need to be seated with equal amounts of pressure and vacuum.

But are you losing any oil?

Did you have a bhg and have coolant going into the exhaust before the rebuild.

I'm losing oil right now from the front main, thats why I haven't taken it out for a drive really yet, its not huge amounts of oil but still a leak.. I have a new OEM seal just picked up a couple days ago from the dealership. Should have that changed out tomorrow as long as weather is nice enough. As far as the BHG.. No idea.. I bought this car with 2 torn down motors and used the best looking parts.. the owner had a complete gasket kit(including HG) that I used. He said the block and head were checked out and fine. Crank was shaved by .010 and had the correct bearings. This was my first rebuild so I was kind of new to it and wished I would have done all the correct work (getting head/block decked and used an HKS gasket) it does have ARP bolts. Piston rings were from another company (different from gasket kit) I'm trying to find the boxes for them now.

Well i found the company.. the gasket set and piston rings were from the same company... JIS (jisengine.com).. has anyone had any experience with this company? Seems to be pretty cheap which normally means bad :(

The shop that got my car running did a compression test for me before I got car back, they said all the numbers were good so thats why I'm kind of ruling out coolant/HG for right now.. not saying later down the road with this cheap gasket set that it won't be.. *fingers crossed*

very similar problem

happened right after I did my first oil change after my rebuild - only 1500km on the engine

white smoke only on idle and only when warm

checked absolutely everything , drove me mad ....after checking everything, doing compression tests etc I found that the comp tests results where good and the only thing ( that i think) it could be is the turbo. My turbo had major shaft play so a new turbo is currently under way. Hoping thats the problem , if it isnt...im at a loss.
