Ok, I just got my motor in my car, and it is running great. I'm planning on retorqing the head at 500 miles, and I'm trying to take it pretty easy until then. That being said.........You try driving your Turbo Supra for 500 miles without a gas pedal. I work a little over a mile from home, so 500 miles is gonna take a while. I have "checked the turbo out" a couple of times in short bursts, and it boosts to 6-7 lbs quickly and easily. It may do better, but I'm not pushing it yet. Boost seems fine, but I don't hear a thing from my Greedy Type-S BOV. This is a working BOV, as I took it off my 87 when getting this car going. Quiet is definitely not a characteristic of this BOV. This car has a ported and polished turbo elbow, and a Megan Downpipe (from ebay). Exhaust is stock after the downpipe for now. Am I not building the same pressure? Maybe that question shows my complete ignorance to what is going on. Also, when I park my car, I get a crackling noise for a while. Maybe the second cat is cooling from excessive heat?

I think that the lack of blow-off may be caused by a vacuum leak. As lagged said, check the vacuum hose on top of it. I had a similar problem in the past, but it was a vacuum leak elsewhere that caused it.

Could the "crackling" after you shut off your car also be characterized as pinging? If so, it's just a sound that all cars make when the engine is cooling down. Nothing to worry about.
