I was just looking at the BOV VTA job that the previous owner in japan did on my 1jz. Then I realized.... wait.... it's backwards. :3d_frown:

Apparently the guy knows nothing about how a turbo system works, cause he blocked off the pressure side of the bov and vented the part that goes to the air filter pipe. :slap:

Which also made me realize that the BOV on the 1jz is designed backwards from every other car I've ever seen. Interesting.

At least the leakdown is good on the engine and the turbo's are unharmed, despite the obvious opportunity for dirt to be sucked in there. They guy must have been baffled as to why his venting job made the BOV even quieter though, lol.

It's rice because he was trying to vent his stock bov to make it louder, but instead completely stopped the bov from making any noise or working at all. He hooked it up like this on purpose, because he left the vac hoses connected to the stock BOV (he even upgraded them to bright blue hose).

Not only that, but every time the stock BOV opened, it sucked unfiltered air into the intake.

Maybe he did it for shit and giggles for some U.S. kid :dunno:. Seems like you would know its not working when the engine is running.
